According to ReachLocal's corporate website, its mission is to "help local businesses all over the globe reach more local consumers online."

ReachLocal was established in 2003 and has approximately 2000 employees across 68 countries.

The company provides a wide range of internet marketing services for SMBs including search engine advertising, website design, social media marketing, and management.

ReachLocal has a lot of staff and offices. ReachLocal also has 24,000+ clients.

However, their clients claim otherwise.

ReachLocal clients lost a lot of money due to their investment in marketing systems and were completely dissatisfied by the service they received, especially the search engine advertising service.

    Reach Local offers aggressive Pay Per Click advertising via the Google AdWords platform.

    If your goals and industry are applicable, it's fine to run a PPC campaign.

    Reach Local's "benefits" are largely at the expense of small business owners.

    Reach Local's search engine advertising service is most criticized because of its outrageous upcharge.

    AdWords is a click-based system. This means that certain keywords can pay more per click depending on many factors, such as competition and location.

    Reach Local's pricing per click is what I find most irritating.

    You'll see that these rates are far too high in comparison to the cost per click if you read the hundreds of online user reviews.

    Inadequacy of reporting

    To assess the success of a PPC campaign, data and analytics are required.

    ReachLocal clients lose control over and access to their PPC campaign, which leaves them at a significant loss as well as emptying their wallets.

    ReachLocal's search-engine advertising service will make it difficult for you to get your ad copy and understand the impressions and clicks that your ads received, as well as your keyword options and other PPC metrics.

    ReachLocal may provide a nice, neat baseline report. But what you really want is more.

    ReachLocal will show you how much money you can save by hiring a PPC expert or running the campaigns yourself.

    ReachLocal must comply with Google's Third-Party Policies as they use Google AdWords.

    It's not.

    For example, take the Moz Community forum information. It's not up-to-date, but it's still relevant.

    Google Third-Party Policies that PPC firms such as ReachLocal or Titan Web Marketing Solutions must adhere to, state that clients should be provided with cost per click, number clicks, and impressions as a minimum requirement.

    Although it does not say that third-party companies should provide this information to clients it is still considered best practice by PPC companies.

    ReachLocal's search-engine advertising reporting methodology shows how to provide customers with basic metrics that will not help them make informed decisions about their campaign's performance.

    ReachLocal Direct Experiences

    ReachLocal has many clients who have tried to quit the program, according to me. For the purposes of this review, I asked them why. They all replied the same way:

    • Inadequate reporting
    • Prices are outrageously high.
    • Communication problems
    • After they were contacted, nothing changed.
    • Projects that are overpromised but not delivered
    • Although calls increased, many people called from places far beyond their service area.

    ReachLocal's experience is similar to the one Hibu clients complained about. Hibu, another marketing company, offers a similar product.

    As a local company, it would be natural to assume that their expertise is in driving local traffic to clients' businesses.

    When I was working to switch over ReachLocal's website for a client, one of the most worrying aspects I found was its back-end.

    They don't give any information to clients, i.e. reports, materials, etc.

    ReachLocal & Other Large Marketing Agencies: Trends to Consider

    Clients have referred me to major marketing companies.

    While some clients had great experiences, others chose to leave because of valid reasons. Some clients had to reduce costs.

    Some were simply disappointed, others were happy with the results and some just wanted to change directions.

    Based on the feedback of customers and employees, ReachLocal seems to function in a similar way as DexYP.

    Common Complaints

    Transparency is lacking

    People who use these PPC services may have difficulty assessing their results.

    It is important to know what clicks you are spending and how much of your budget goes towards management costs.

    Google has a clear policy on this. Google Advertisements must be submitted by businesses that manage Google Advertisements for their clients. This includes the amount spent on ads and management fees.

    Contract issues

    These businesses will require that you sign a contract.

    It would be very difficult to either get your money back or make a claim for a refund.

    Ask me before you sign any contract. A contract is unnecessary if they are confident in their product and capable of delivering the promised results.

    Clients are free to leave at any moment and should not be charged any additional fees.

    Reach Local is simply not delivering what they claim.

    This isn't unusual for large agencies.

    They're just too big to provide the quality and attention needed to help small businesses grow digitally.

    ReachLocal is therefore subject to a lot negative reviews and complaints.

    ReachLocal complaints online will show that this issue is frequent.


    Which are the Top Competitors of Reach Local?

    Reach Local competitors include Word Stream Advisor (previously AdWords) and Google Ads (previously AdWords).

    What is Reach Local's best feature?

    Reviewers gave Dynamic content, Lead scoring, grading, and Data quality management the highest scores with a 9.1 score.

    Who uses Reach Local?

    Reach Local's most popular users are small businesses owners and the building materials industry.

    Conclusion: Is it a Scam?

    ReachLocal is not a fraud and is a legitimate digital marketing system.

    But I am not sure what the system is. Based on the negative reviews that I have read, you should be cautious about using this tool.

    I'm not denying that ReachLocal is a great tool. ReachLocal has received a few good reviews. For example, take the following review from an office manager:

    "Innovative design and easy implementation of websites."
    "Communication with ReachLocal employees is easy and easily available."
    "Our account is transparent and describes in detail our weekly/monthly/yearly progress."

    However, I believe that a local marketing agency would be better suited to assist you if your business is small and you don't want to lose any of the profits.

    Titan Web Marketing Solutions is a good choice if you are looking for PPC Ad services. They are available to small businesses throughout the United States.

    ReachLocal is a great way to start a successful, profitable business.

    This is my #1 choice!

    ReachLocal's greatest weakness is its inability to scale.

    It is unrealistic to expect to make unlimited phone calls per day.

    Does it sound too good to be true

    It does, of course!

    It's not, however. In fact, many business owners wish that they had this skill.

    You can simply build and rank your website, and then forward the jobs to a local business owner. Or you could email it!

    This applies to any service-based business such as tree service, plumbing, or towing.

    What are the best ways to get paid?

    It's simple, once you have sent the jobs to a business owner, he makes some money from them, you just ask for mutual benefit.

    Based on the industry, a fair price per lead is between 10-20 %... let's take the tree service industry as an example and use the worst-case scenario.

    Let's suppose you rank the site, and that only 10 jobs per month are received. Tree service jobs can range from $500 to $2000.
